AGRICULTURE ~ Ranching, Farming, Hobby Farms, Rodeo ~ Western Culture Having lived in many rural communities of British Columbia from the Kootenays to the Yellowhead ~ the Cariboo ~ the Okanagan ~ the Yellowhead ~ back to the Cariboo ~ I have had the pleasure of living, working and raising my family with in the true west of the Canadian landscape. From working in the berry and fruit tree crop areas of agriculture in the Creston Valley as a student, to marrying into a family who moved to the Fort Fraser area in 1906 as farmers and ranchers. I believe the heritage of the western culture is in my blood. My career of writing business plans, began with a purebred cattle operation in 1974. We have worked for approximately five years setting up bookkeeping systems and doing taxes for small ranches and their employees. We have continued our involvement with fund raising, sponsoring, researching, supporting and promoting the business of the Cattlemen (Cattle belles), Livestock Associations, rural community associations and Chambers of Commerce. I have sat on the Northern Agricultural Alliance board; been a member of the rodeo community within the province for twenty-five years. I have represented the British Columbia Rodeo Association as their Marketing Manager for the several years and was the Rodeo & Event Coordinator for the West of the Rockies Pro Rodeo Championship Finals - held in Prince George 2006 ~ 2008 inclusive. As the owner and operator of a custom western apparel company ~ Rocking ‘P’ Western Apparel ~ for the past 25 years. Rocking ‘P’has traveled throughout Western Canada (British Columbia to Saskatchewan) to Cowboy Festivals selling custom western apparel, with a client base that work on all the major ranches of British Columbia. I have been a member of the BC Cowboy Historical Society and a Gold Card Member of the BC Rodeo Association. In 2011 I was honoured to be the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Columbia Rodeo Association members. PMG Communication has a large network of contacts, clientele, family and business associates throughout the Cattle, Ranching, Rodeo and Farming communities within the province. Working with the Agriculture Sector to promote the industry and bringing the issues of the industry to communities across the province and to government agencies is one of the services available to the this community. We have worked successfully to have Livestock Brand inspection regulations changed to meet a current requirement. I currently own and operate a hobby farm on the Old Cariboo Highway South of Prince George with a couple of horses and of course a cow dog. |
